OpenAI just launched ChatGPT for Windows and it’s coming for your office software

OpenAI has launched a ChatGPT desktop app for Windows, making it easier for users to integrate the AI-powered chatbot into their workflow. This move comes a few months after the MacOS version, expanding access to Windows 10 and 11 users. The new app offers a seamless way to interact with ChatGPT without needing to open a web browser. It includes features like file uploads, image generation via DALL-E 3, and document summarization.

Users can access it quickly with a keyboard shortcut (Alt + Space) and keep it open alongside other apps, making multitasking easier. While the app is still in its early version and missing some features like advanced voice interaction, OpenAI plans to roll out these updates soon. Notably, it integrates the powerful o1 model for enhanced reasoning capabilities, making it even more useful for office-related tasks such as summarizing reports or generating documents.
